The Tahitian
Buffet and Show
If the weather permits, guests are seated outdoors on the terrace of
the Otemanu Restaurant, with a fantastic view of Otemanu Mountain. The
terrace is semi-circular in shape, with several tiers that descend to
a firelit ring of sand where the shows takes place.
Each show is an hour-long spectacle of exquisite singing and exotic,
rhythmic dances. These include the tamure, a very fast dance
accompanied by frenzied drum beats, and the aparima, where the women
perform soft, gentle hand-dances, each movement telling a story. |

On Saturday nights we
feature is a terrifying and magnificent fire-dance, fearlessly
performed by a male trio effortlessly wielding huge wheels of fire. A
full orchestra playing traditional Tahitian musical instruments
accompanies the dancers and singers.
The buffets features
typical Tahitian dishes and local produce. For Saturday's Seafood
buffet Fish is generously featured. The buffet is displayed in
individual fares decorated with palm leaves and flowers, with at least
three chefs in attendance to grill the guests' choice 'à la minute'
and to explain the various dishes.
The dress code for
guests is the same as for the Otemanu Restaurant - slightly formal.
Men are requested to wear long trousers. Neither jackets nor ties are
required. The Staff in typical Tahitian fashion are always in uniform.

Bora Bora: Bora
Bora Lagoon Resort: "beauty and passion"
March 16, 2005 White Rock Canada
|
I travel all over the world for both work and pleasure. My 7
day stop at the Bora Bora Lagoon resort was for both of the
above, my expectations were high.
I was greeted at the small airport of Bora Bora with a warm
smile and sweet smelling flower. I then enjoyed a short boat
ride to the resort over a turquoise colored lagoon; it just
did not look real as it was just stunning. I arrived at the
dock that looked like some thing from fantasy land (all wood
dock, large pots, birds and shallow blue green water with
hundreds of fish for the eye to see). I then enjoyed yet
another set of big smiles and a fresh coconut drink served in
a real coconut to wet my whistle, so far I am thinking that I
am in heaven.
Off to a beautifully private bungalow with yes my own small
swimming pool, finished with polished hard word floors, fans,
wicker furniture and more thick white towels than I knew what
to do with. The room even had a mask and snorkel and sand
shoes to enjoy the beach and ocean just a 15 second walk from
my pool and bungalow door.
The 7day stay allowed me to enjoy all the different
restaurants and bars that offered great food, setting and
service. I even had a 5 star room service breakfast one
morning just because I could. I love to be in the water and am
a scuba diver, this I did every day. As a painter and scuba
diver in Australia and Canada and someone who travels 5 months
of the year, I can say with an open and honest heart that this
resort filled me with a beauty and passion just not found in
other locations, on my first dive a saw a turtle and a trigger
fish. I had a great time and will
return (it gets a 10 out of 10 from me).
