Getting There - Only By Seaplane
When
Hollywood needed a tropical paradise, it chose Turtle Island, immortalizing
its famous Blue Lagoon. Impossible as it is to accept that
anything so perfect can remain so unspoiled, Turtle Island confounds the
skeptic. Amongst its many accolades is the latest from the World Legacy
Awards - it was named as one of the three most outstanding hotels in the
world for taking a leading role in environmentally and socially
responsible tourism. This 500-acre private island in the Yasawa chain,
with its 14 powder-sand beaches, is devoted to just 14 couples who are
welcomed as family and are cared for by over a hundred Fijian staff. The
two-room beachfront Fijian-style bures are luxuriously appointed, with
handcrafted furniture, four poster king bed and indoor Jacuzzi. Outdoor
dining by lantern light sets the scene for magnificent cuisine, fresh
seafood, organic vegetables and wines from the worlds' finest vineyards.
A lifestyle rather than a resort experience.

The ultimate
honeymoon spot on Earth, Fiji's Turtle Island has to be at the head of
the list. Turtle is where both "Blue Lagoon" 1949 and 1980 movies were
filmed, a completely private and enchanted island which only
accommodates 14 couples at a time in traditional two room thatched
cottage Bures with 21 foot vaulted ceilings woven by Fijian craftsmen,
each one with its own Bure Mama to take care of your every need.
Turtle Island (in Fiji) is where
Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson and The Bachelorette's Trista & Ryan
spent their honeymoons. To say that Turtle is the dream honeymoon in
Fiji of every new couple is an understatement. This completely isolated
500 acre island set amidst turquoise crystal clear seas, is truly a
Hollywood version of a tropical paradise and your travel agent can make
all the Turtle Island arrangements for you. Private treehouse resorts in
Fiji are also available.
Imagine being able to play on completely private and deserted beaches,
stroll through verdant tropical forests, and also enjoy gourmet meals on
the sand such as lovo cooked underground, slipper lobsters and fish
right from the local waters. And after an active day what could be
better than a lomi-lomi massage from two expert practitioners at once?
Turtle Island was voted by Travel & Leisure magazine as the only
property in Fiji to be worthy of the "World's Best Service" award and
your travel agent can easily explain why. The food is designed by
renowned French chef Jacques Reymond, who is generally regarded as the
number one fine dining chef in Australia; the island features a 3,000+
bottle vintage wine cellar; and of course there is the Bure Mama who
awaits the couple's every whim. She is assigned full time only to one
cottage and to ensure that the honeymooners have everything that they
need or want, including their privacy.
There are 14 beaches on the island, one per couple. And each beach can
even be reserved guarantee you absolute privacy, so you can picnic,
sunbathe or... well, it is your honeymoon!
For the ultimate in the ultimate
honeymoon, the Turtle Island Bure to reserve through your travel agent
is the one on Vonu Point. Set directly at the northern end of the "Blue
Lagoon" beach, it is completely private as the nearest neighbor is over
500 yards away!
How much does it cost? As the old saying goes, if you have to ask you
can't afford it. All inclusive rates hover around the $2,000 mark... per
night. However, if you really want to make a grand splash or take along
26 of your closest friends, you can rent the entire island for a mere
$275,000 a week! Good luck finding a Fiji Honeymoon Package at that
rate!

Picnics
|
Turtle is a place for
the young at heart; a retreat for couples who seek a
renewal of the spirit and a return to the innocence of
falling in love for the very first time.
Whether
you're a honeymooner looking for the perfect place to
begin your life together, celebrating a special occasion
or just trying to escape from the world.

Enjoy a romantic picnic where
a luncheon of lobster or other island delicacies will be dropped
off for you by boat or cart.
Lose your worldly
inhibitions. Read a book. Sip champagne. Work on an all-over
tan. Picnics are a favorite among Turtle Island guests.
You may reserve one of our
many private beaches or settle on the beach just outside your
private "bure". Either way, you are sure to enjoy a sumptuous
picnic lunch complete with your choice of wine, champagne or
other favorite beverage.
Described as "hyper-romantic" (Conde Nast "Traveler"), Turtle Island offers
everything from traditional Fijian wedding ceremonies to French champagne
gourmet picnics on one of the island's private beaches in the effort to
celebrate and rekindle true love and romance.
A honeymoon should be a private heaven. A place where romance wraps around
you like a cloak; where you need make no decisions, where everything is done
for you. Perhaps that is why Turtle Island seems like it was made for
newlyweds. For surely there is no more perfect place to celebrate love than
in our hidden Eden of empty beach and dark-leafed jungle.

The Beaches... |
The island is blessed with 14 white, naturally occurring
sandy beaches, 8 of which are available for private
picnics. Some are naturally occurring palm fringed
beaches. Some are adjacent to the living and dining
areas, and some are totally isolated, bounded by high
cliffs or set within a cove.

Your time on Turtle is
your own, whether you want to stroll the beaches, wade in
the turquoise waters, cruise from island to island on one of
our sailboats or snorkel or scuba with a Fijian guide.
Couples can reserve a beach for the day and enjoy a romantic
picnic where a luncheon of lobster and champagne, or
whatever you prefer, will be dropped off.
Lose your worldly
inhibitions. Read a book. Sip champagne. Work on an all-over
tan.

A honeymoon should be a private heaven.

A place where
romance wraps around you like a cloak; where you need
make no decisions; where everything is done for you, and

"Turtle Island is much more than a resort. It is a place to fall in
love again, with each other, with life, and with each one of you. Thank
you for doing what you do; it is truly a gift."

Imagine on your honeymoon, waking to the wash and flow of waves,
to a room fresh and glittering with sun, and a flush of
jasmine-scented air over the bed.
Breakfast is outside, spread out on a polished wooden table
beneath the palms, or left quietly in a location you request:
breads, pastries and muffins still hot from the oven, fruits,
juices, sharp-scented coffee and tea.
And the day lays itself out before you like a magic carpet.
Your time on Turtle Island is your own ... perhaps navigate a
sailboat around the lagoon or let it float lazily in the sun,
snorkel among bright clouds of fish, thunder through the rolling
surf on horseback, explore a green-shaded jungle trail. Try
saltwater fly-fishing.
Maybe just choose one of the remote silent beaches that ring
the island, where a luncheon of lobster and champagne will be
dropped off for you by boat.
|
|
| |

The only thing that matters is that your honeymoon is
superbly romantic and something that you will remember for
the rest of your lives.
When you decide that the day is over, imagine walking arm
in arm back along the beach under a thick mat of stars. Your
bure is cool and dim and the scent of salt air and
frangipani washes over the four-poster bed. You may just
decide for yourselves that Turtle is, as respected travel
writer Andrew Harper says, "heaven on earth".

"Turtle Island is a study in contrasts. It costs money, yet the
experience is priceless; it's strange, yet familiar; it's untamed, yet
amazingly civilized; it's trendy, yet timeless; it's relaxing, yet
you're always busy; it's laid back, yet time speeds by; it's
beautiful, yet simple; it's exclusive, yet accessible; it's heaven,
yet it's here on earth."
