Fiji Named One of Top Six Honeymoon Resort Destinations

The Fiji Islands was named as one of the top fantasy honeymoon destinations in New York-based Modern Bride Magazine’s January, issue. The article written by veteran travel writer Joe Yogerst, who visited Fiji several years ago, shares with readers that “Fiji offers plenty of room to drop in, chill out, make love, all the components to fulfill the “We’re finally alone! fantasy.”

Vatulele was created by Emmy award winning Australian Television miniseries producer, Henry Crawford. His concept was to create a fantasy escape from the Western world. The Resort set on a remote tropical island and is popular with show business personalities. Also as a wedding and honeymoon destination.

The resort, which accommodates just 18 couples opened in 1990 and has won many awards. Most recently it was named Fiji’s top resort in the 2004 annual Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards.

Vatulele (pronounced ‘Vah-too-lay-lay’), is located on a spectacular island in the Fiji group.

The resort is 'all inclusive' and accommodates just 19 couples who are pampered by 110 staff.

In keeping with the owner's philosophy, there are no TV's, newspapers, telephones, money transactions or shoes.

Vatulele is generally acknowledged as one of the most outstanding 'bare-foot' resorts in the world.

BURES ( Rooms )

he Villas or Bures (pronounced 'boo-rays') are spacious and identical, enjoying easy access to the water, each with its stretch of white sand.
Twelve doors open to an expansive terrace, and from the living room you walk up three steps to the bedroom, with a king size bed and a dressing area.
The bures are around 50 metres apart and are set in natural jungle, allowing privacy.

NEW! Our Grand Honeymoon Bure . Unlike other villas (apart from THE POINT) it is air conditioned and has a plunge pool.

ale Viqi (pron: 'varlay vingy') pink house, is the name for the Grand Honeymoon Bure. Pink, in the tradition of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel...This latest addition to Vatulele was conceived by Henry Crawford (who also created THE POINT) and opened in mid July 2004.
The most remote of the bures, this mini-palace is noted for its extreme privacy, and architectural detailing. Vale Viqi gives you 182 square metres/1960 square feet of exclusive space plus private courtyard/deck. Air conditioned, sound system, two indoor showers, two outdoor showers, bidet, bathtub, cosy dining area, and plunge pool, all surrounded by beautiful tropical foliage. All this plus easy beach access.
Full time staff reside in nearby quarters along with permanent electric cart transportation.

he Point is a premium bure with a commanding view of the lagoon and entire beach. It has two levels, with air conditioning and a pool (fresh water). Well, there are actually TWO pools! Not to mention permanent staff assigned on a fulltime basis. This bure is ideally suited to high profile guests seeking privacy.
Demand is particularly high with honeymooners and wedding celebrants.

DIVING

Vatulele is the only five star island resort in Fiji with a PADI ("Golden Palm" status) dive facility and resident instructors. We offer a variety of courses: 'Resort' courses, full 'Open Water' certification courses, and various specialty courses. We can offer a cross-section of diving possibilities: soft coral, hard coral and pelagics.

Underwater visibility ranges from above average to excellent and there are few currents. The island is surrounded by deep water with large 'drop-offs', offering twenty-two dive sites within fifteen minutes' travel.

There are no better circumstances to take your first steps into the exhilarating world beneath the sea.

DINING

atulele is well recognized for its food, ranging from Californian to Thai, Japanese, Austral/Asian and Indian - in fact, any style that suits our glorious tropical climate and laid back lifestyle.

Fresh ingredients are flown in daily from Australia and New Zealand. Naturally there is an emphasis on seafood. Because of our all inclusive tariff, there are ample opportunities to sample the contents of our first class cellar, including unlimited French champagne!

Fiji Best Boutique Resort

In the welcoming warm weather, meals are taken on a terrace outside our large central pavilion overlooking the lagoon. By night, tables are set under the stars and lit by lanterns and candlelight. At full moon, the 'dining room' is usually set by the water's edge. Dining is usually communal, and hosted by the management - in the style of the Captain's table on a ship.

However, don't imagine that we ignore that special occasion or the chance to have a romantic dinner for two. There are many options for private dinners, our wine cellar, in 'The Folly', or on the beach with moon and lantern light.

In Modern Bride's seventh annual survey of travel agents, Fiji was voted #2 "secluded honeymoon" location. (Tahiti was #1). Vatulele was voted number four in the world and number one in Fiji.
It was voted Fiji''s top resort in the Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards (Dec 2004).
