Micro climates matter when choosing
accommodations on the Hawaiian Islands. The best beach hotels and
resorts are generally concentrated on the southwest side of each
island, protecting them from the trade winds and cloud buildup on
the northeast coasts. For variety, spend a night or two "upcountry"
on Maui or on the Big Island of Hawaii.
