Vatulele
Resort Fiji Beach Weddings

A Fijian wedding is based on English Law and therefore is legally
binding and recognized worldwide. The resort strictly limits the
number of weddings performed, therefore, early booking is
recommended to avoid disappointment.
For many career-minded couples, organizing a wedding takes such
enormous effort that the idea of 'eloping' can be very attractive,
especially when the wedding can take place in a romantic setting
of such as this. All the planning is done for you – you just
need to turn up!
Typically just the celebrants bring no other guests but on
occasion there has been a wedding party of several family members
and/or friends.

The service is usually held on the beach at sunset, in a 'church'
with doors and windows created from plaited coconut leaves and
flowers. Traditionally dressed Fijian warriors accompany the bride
on a barge trip across the lagoon, and children toss flower petals
in the sand as she is carried ashore to take her vows. The
ceremony is accompanied by the mellow voices of a village church
choir raised in sublime harmony.
Wedding ceremonies at Vatulele are not merely 'show business'
however. The vows are solemized by a Fijian minister, and because
of their popularity, we limit them to three a month. This means
that they remain special for us as well. No production lines that
you will find in most other resorts here! All the guests are
invited: they participate in champagne toasts, the traditional
Kava ceremony, a native feast cooked in pits in the ground, and
later enjoy the villagers' genuine ceremonial dances. Typically a
wedding preparations involve most of our 110 staff for two days.
For all concerned though, a Vatulele wedding is the fantasy of a
lifetime come true. |

Some formalities:
A Fijian wedding is based on English Law and therefore is legally
binding and recognized worldwide. The resort strictly limits the
number of weddings performed, therefore, early booking is
recommended to avoid disappointment. The price of the wedding also
reflects the exclusivity.
The wedding service is usually held towards the end of your stay,
however, the exact date itself cannot be guaranteed due to
availability of staff and Minister and subject to weather
conditions. Requests for particular dates, however, will be taken
into account and met, where possible. The resort is unable to
conduct a weekend wedding, due to other commitments for choir and
minister.
A minimum wedding stay of six nights is required so that the staff
and other guest get to know you well. This guarantees that there
won’t be a dry eye in the house!
Details and Special Requests - After arrival at the resort, you
will discuss the service in detail with the island management. Any
special requests may be made at this time. Flowers, including a
wedding bouquet, are provided depending upon what is currently in
season in Fiji. Requests for professional bouquets and decorations
can be made with the Island Management upon arrival.
My fiance and I
decided we wanted to elope and get married and go someplace
"exotic". We decided we didn't want all the stress of event
planning and dealing with relatives and making everyone happy. We
opted for making ourselves happy as the top priority. When some
friends that previously stay at Vatulele told us about the resort
we decided it would be the destination for our wedding. It was the
best decision we could have made. As seasoned world travelers it
takes a lot to impress us but I can honestly say that our
expectations for the wedding and the accomdations were far
exceeded. The resort and accomdations are outstanding. Food and
service top notch. The wedding day that was prepared for us was
nothing short of a modern-day fairytale come true. See for
yourselves as some of the pictures are posted under "Dave and Amy"
in the wedding album on the website (----)
For anyone considering a destination wedding - look no further.
For those looking to get away and relax and be pampered in an
amazing paradise - this is your spot. Enjoy!
